About us dr Dilip Kiyawat, after his MBBS in 1973 from MGM Medical College Indore (MP) achieved his postgraduate M. Ch. degree in Neurosurgery from KEM Hospital Mumbai in 1980. During this period he was trained under the able guidance of Prof. Dr Sunil Pandya and Prof. Dr R D Nagpal.
He submitted his thesis entitled “A Retrospective Study of 76 Cases of Brain Stem Tumours from 1950 to 1975” to Bombay University. He has wide experience operating and undergoing advanced training in various countries such as.
The United Kingdom, USA, Korea, Singapore, and Germany where he learned Micro Neurosurgery, Epilepsy Surgery, Stereotactic Surgery, Endoscopic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. After 4 years of training at North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester UK, he returned to India in 1985 to join Ruby Hall Clinic Pune, Maharashtra.
Simultaneously he worked as an Honorary Assistant Professor, and later as Honorary Professor of Neurosurgery for a period of 15 years at the B. J. Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital Pune.
At both these hospitals he established Micro Neurosurgery Practice for brain and spinal disorders. Since 1998 he has been working as Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Jehangir Hospital Pune, and also at the Sainath Hospital Moshi since 2004.
Along with other complex Neurosurgical operations, he embarked on surgical treatment of Epilepsy due to its high demand. For this he has visited centres in Liverpool UK, Cleveland Clinic USA, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology Thiruvananthapuram India.
In association with his Neurologist colleagues Dr Nasli R Ichaporia and Dr Nandan Yardi, he was the first to start Epilepsy surgery in Maharashtra.
With the experience of more than 6000 Neurosurgical operations during his long career of 45 years, Dr. Kiyawat has gained expertise in surgeries of Brain Tumours, Spinal Tumours, Surgery on Slip Disc (Sciatica), Degenerative Disorders of the Spine.
Lumbar Canal Stenosis, Spondylolisthesis, Brain Injury, Spinal Injury, Surgeries on Craniovertebral Region, Epilepsy Surgery, Microvascular Decompression of Trigeminal Nerve for Trigeminal Neuralgia, Hydrocephalus, Endoscopic Brain and Spine Surgeries, and surgeries on Paediatric patients.
